MICA GARDENSCAPES
The owner and operator of Mica Gardenscapes, Clare Scanlon, is someone to be admired for her commitment to sustainability and responsible gardening. Based in Steamboat, Colorado, she has witnessed firsthand, the effects of a warming climate and the impact that non-native plants can have on pollinator populations and local ecosystems. Mica's mission is to educate as well as provide landscaping services that prioritize native and drought tolerant plants.
OPTIONS
Clare didn't really have clear idea of what she wanted out of a brand identity so the first round of options were very varied. I went with natural imagery, trying to draw inspiration from patterns in nature such a root systems, seed pods and flowers.
FINAL DESIGN
We decided on an elegant sans-serif font and simplified floral imagery. For the final branding guide, I knew that she would be doing all of the leg work in terms of posting on social media and adding to her website, so I wanted to give her a solid foundation on how to use the identity as well as direction on how to expand in terms of stock photography and different color schemes.  She has done so well implementing the guidelines and I smile every time I see her posts.
SOCIAL MEDIA COLLATERAL
I wanted to give her an initial six posts that she could use to launch her business on Instagram, so I created a series of informational posts, introducing her and Mica Gardenscapes to the world. This included a few initial teaser images and then gradually moved into explaining her background and mission.
GROW NATIVE
Our most recent collaboration was done in Spring of 2023. Clare wanted a graphic to showcase native plants and their benefits. She had a vintage inspired aesthetic in mind and I created a full color image for use on stickers and posters as well as a single color graphic for use on t-shirts.
